What is Centerstage USA?

Summer Centerstage USA is nearly 6 weeks of rigorous professional instruction, lots of performing experience, the production of a full-scale stage show, and an exciting cross-country performance tour in the U.S. and Canada, capped by an incredible New York City study adventure. In other words, Centerstage USA is a one-of-a-kind summer theatre experience for older high school and college-age performers who are serious about learning, working and performing.

The Program

Training is intensive! It is our goal to equip our students with specific knowledge and practical experience in as many facets of the profession as possible. To achieve this uniquely balanced and thorough curriculum, training focuses on areas in addition to stage acting, including:

• voice development
• dance and movement
• characterization
• improvisation
• musical comedy
• TV/film and commercial acting
• professional audition strategies for stage and camera
• ensemble acting methods
• career preparation

Touring gives each student the opportunity to put their training into practice. In addition to performing, the students will have plenty of opportunities to sight-see, hear guest speakers, shop, experience different performing environments, train in New York City, and see Broadway shows.

Workshop and Tour Dates

The training workshop and local performances are for four weeks, from June 23rd through July 19th, Monday through Friday, 9 am - 4:45 pm. The tour and NYC training schedule lasts for 11 days, from July 22nd through August 1st.

The Staff

The names and a brief biography of each staff person will be listed on this site once final selections are made. Like all previous Centerstage USA staff members, they will be a hand-picked and specially trained group of dynamic adults who not only have successfully demonstrated their professional talents but who also possess solid, practical experience in working with young performers.

The Summer Tour

Next summer's proposed stops include Detroit, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Lake Placid, and New York City. The group will be in New York City for 5 days, and will see 5-6 Broadway and Off Broadway shows, as well as attend outstanding acting, voice, and dance classes and workshops with professional instructors. While in New York City, students will be housed in a quality hotel in the heart of the theatre district. In other cities, accommodations are provided by our hosts, and can range from dormitories to indoor camping. For safety and logistical reasons, we prefer to keep the group together rather than use "home hospitality" while on the road.

Fees and Expenses

Individual student tuition for the Centerstage USA program is $2,395.00 (subject to unexpected increases in airfare or fuel costs). This fee includes:

• all workshop supplies and costs
• all tour transportation and accommodation expenses
• all tickets to shows and amusement parks

This fee does not include transportation to and from workshop, some local transportation in NYC, food (some meals are provided on tour), and any personal spending money.
